Alleviation is the action or process of making suffering, deficiency or a problem less severe and we believe that music, creation, talking, participation and expression can be helpful and therapeutic methods to alleviate our earthly woes. With the intention of improving mental health and reducing suicide and self-harm in the Richmondshire region we have put together this special winter solstice occasion in association with Caleidoscope Counselling Services to help make a difference in our local community.

CAMP COPE WITCHING WAVES + MISFORTUNE COOKIE + MOUSES
Thursday 19th September @ STAR AND SHADOW CINEMA
MOUSES come from up narth and play the most beautiful racket you've ever heard. It appears vacuous on first inspection, but after you get used to their musings and raw style, it quickly becomes apparent that the band is very intelligent indeed. This band takes the charisma and approach of Jilted John and cranks it up until the dial snaps off. Spunky, sparkly guitar playing, frenzied, furious drumming and a vocal performance that is highly expressive.
Greenbelt hosts its 46th festival of arts, faith and justice in 2019. Sometimes described as “the best festival you’ve never heard of”, it began way back in 1974 and has happened every single year since. But thinking of Greenbelt as just another ‘festival’ doesn’t do it justice. Greenbelt is also an idea, a way of seeing, a gathering of the clans – part movement, part moment. Its genius is that it defies easy description. You have to be there. Celebrating artistry and nurturing activism, Greenbelt Festival is an act of the imagination – inspirational, provocative and fun. Energised by a progressive Christian worldview, with 19 stages, galleries, installations and outdoor performances, Greenbelt creates a festival that is inclusive, open-minded, participatory and generous in spirit. Join us at Boughton House in Northamptonshire this August Bank Holiday.

Mouses / Lo-Fi Punk Rock / Teeside (UK)
Billingham-based alt-rock duo Mouses make more noise than most bands twice their size.
Luckily, it’s an infectious racket; a spiky, lo-fi, punk rock assault with bangin’ toons!
Ever since coming into twisted existence in 2014 in the Belgian city of Liège, pretty much as a bad taste joke, Cocaine Piss never really had time to consider such fine details, like having a band name that you can safely say in public, or just having any kind of plan for anything. They just revved the engine of the piss rocket and watched it launch, and before they knew it, it was flying sky-high.
Cocaine Piss are also a great example of the many things you can accomplish while not being an asshole. Their music might be nasty, provocative, dirty and mean, but their message is always a positive one that should leave a mark as deep as their riffs will cut.
Society Of Losers have teamed up with Evil Eye Burrito to curate the most Loserrific lineup on Smithdown Road this year!
